Alejandro Calderón Chatet was appointed new CEO of EPM
The executive was selected through a headhunting process, informed the Mayor of Medellin and chairman of the Board.

Mayor Quintero stated that the appointment of the new CEO of EPM was based on a "headhunting process and the support of the Board of Directors".
Calderón Chatet replaces engineer Mónica Ruiz Arbeláez, who was the Deputy CEO since February 1. The executive was serving as the executive vice president, Finance and Investments since December 1, 2020.
The new CEO of EPM, who will lead the business group, is an economist and specialist in Business Administration and Economics from the University of California, United States.
He has a master’s degree in International Economics and Finance from Montesquieu University, France, and a master’s degree in Business Administration with emphasis in finance from Harvard University, United States.
Professional Career
In his professional career, the new CEO of EPM has served as:
- Investment banking manager - C&C Gold, Bogotá, 2016 to 2020.
- Investment banking vice president at Silk Banca de Inversion, Bogotá, 2015 to 2016.
- Mergers and Acquisitions manager, Senior Business developer at Ecopetrol, Bogotá, 2013 to 2014.
- CEO / Member of the Board of Directors, non-executive member, at Peru Minerals S.A.C., Lima, Peru / Promesa Limited, Perth, Australia, 2009 to 2012
- Business vice president at Grupo Pegasus S.A. (TCOIL S.A.), Bogotá, 2007 to 2009.
- Consul of Colombia - Colombian Consulate, Boston, United States, 2005 to 2006.
- Credit analyst, Public Finance Department - Standard & Poor's, Paris, France, 2004 to 2005.
