Alejandro Calderón Chatet, EPM's new CEO, will work to consolidate the Company's leadership in both the national and international markets.
- In his work, he will seek to strengthen EPM's recognition with users and the various publics that are part of its operation
EPM's raison d'être: People
As a utility company whose main objective is to improve the quality of life of the people where EPM is present, the goal is to reach 100% of Medellin's water and sewage system.
The aim is for all people in socioeconomic levels 1, 2 and 3 to have a free gas connection, so that they pay less on their utility bills. Similarly, the installation of solar panels and the improvement of infrastructure will be moved forward to offer a more efficient service. Excellence and quality in service will continue to be EPM's priority.
The entrance into operation of the Ituango Hydroelectric Project
The Ituango Hydroelectric Project is EPM's flagship project, which has a high level of national interest because it is Colombia's most important power generation project.
Significant progress has been made in the last few months, and the goal is to start operations in the first half of 2022. We will continue to work with the communities in the area of influence, respecting the environment and guaranteeing maximum efficiency in the final stage of construction and operation.
Consolidation of the Afinia operation
Since October 2020, we have been working very hard to make sure that the regions of Cesar, Córdoba, Sucre and Bolívar, and some municipalities in Magdalena, are able to count on the services, the investment, the knowledge, the experience and the quality that characterizes EPM through Afinia.
Over the next eight years, the EPM Group subsidiary will invest COP 8 billion to improve the service and modernize the electric infrastructure.
Maintain the Company's financial sustainability and profitability
In an environment as complex as was 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the EPM Group's earnings grew 19 % compared to the previous year.
The Company is facing significant challenges and obstacles, one of which is the correct and transparent execution of a historical budget of more than COP 19 billion, maximizing its profitability to deliver the greatest possible benefit to Medellín.
From a financial perspective, the goal is to maintain the double investment grade at the international level issued by the risk rating agencies by controlling the debt level.
Recently, the new CEO, when he served as CFO of EPM Group, managed to guarantee the Inter-American Development Bank's (IDB) continued support in funding the Ituango Hydroelectric Project, a fact that evidences the confidence of international banks in EPM.
Designing the EPM of the future
EPM will work on innovation and technological development, in order to achieve greater quality and efficiency in the provision of utilities. This objective will be pursued through solar panels, LED lighting and clean energies that contribute to preserving the environment. User experience will continue to be improved by streamlining procedures and seeking efficiencies to be passed on to customers.
The pandemic sweeping the world imposes increasingly complex challenges. The task assumed by EPM's new CEO will be carried out through teamwork, with the professionalism that has always characterized EPM's People. A task that seeks to contribute to the harmony of life for a better world.
